The interlocutors said that a survey of the remaining 3,000 plant species in the country would be completed so that a clear idea of the status of such species could be obtained. This list will be updated from time to time. Recommendations have also been made regarding proper implementation of existing laws and regulations for the protection of endangered plant species.

Professor Saleh Ahmad Khan told Prothom Aloe, “Most of the plants in the country are useful to us in some form or the other. They also contribute to the biodiversity of our country. Earlier, due to urbanization and agriculture, we lost many types of plants. Given. We should take initiative to conserve these endangered species.”
According to IUCN Bangladesh, there are about 500,000 species of flowering plants in the world. About 295,000 of these plants have been identified by the Kew Herbarium, the UK’s largest herbarium. According to the Bangladesh National Herbarium, the country had 3,840 species of plants as of 2019. However, later 10 more plant species were discovered.
