A month later, investigators are no closer to solving the murder mystery of BUET student Fardeen

Fardeen, 24, left his home in Dhaka’s Demra after lunch on November 4, saying he would study at a residential hall with friends overnight and planned to return home after an exam the next day. according to his family. His body was found floating in the Sheetlakhya river in Narayanganj on 7 November.

An autopsy revealed that Fardeen, joint secretary of the BUET debating club, who was set to travel to Spain to represent Bangladesh in a global competition, had been tortured and murdered. According to forensic doctors, there were multiple injury marks on the head and chest.

Nooruddin had named Bushra as a suspect in a case registered at Rampura police station on 10 November.

Bushra was taken into custody and the court sent her on police remand for five days to interrogate Bushra the same day. The remand plea was unopposed as Bushra was not represented by a lawyer in the court. No bail application was made by Bushra, who remained silent during the hearing.

Additional Commissioner of DB, Haroonor Rashid said on 17 November, that during interrogation, Bushra was unable to provide any information about the murder. Bushra said Fardeen worked normally in Rampura till the two were separated.

Citing mobile phone location data and CCTV camera footage, police said Fardeen visited several places for hours late at night.

After going to Rampura in a rickshaw with his female friend Bushra, Fardeen left at around 9:45 pm on 4 November. At around 11 pm, the location of his mobile phone was Jinjira on the other side of Buriganga river in Keraniganj.
