Airtel yesterday announced that it added over 1,000 new network sites in Bangladesh in the last few months. So far the mobile operator has made its services available in 4,350 towns, including 398 thanas and 2,158 unions, in the country. It also plans to expand its network up to March 2012, Airtel said in a statement yesterday. “In a short span of time, Airtel has emerged as one of the faster growing mobile services’ providers in Bangladesh,” said Chris Tobit, chief executive officer of Airtel Bangladesh. “Having won the trust of five million plus customers in the country, we continue our deep commitment towards delivering services that are life enriching, innovative and affordable.” Tobit said his company looks forward to extending its reach by March 2012 and creating many more opportunities to delight its customers in Bangladesh. Bharti Airtel, the owning company of Airtel, has operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa.
