The Minister was responding to a question at the Secretariat on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the dastardly grenade attack on the party’s anti-terrorist rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city on August 21, 2004.
Hasan, who is also the joint general secretary of the ruling Awami League, said the gruesome grenade attack was carried out to kill Awami League chairperson and outgoing prime minister Sheikh Hasina. He claimed that it was clear that the attacks were carried out by terrorists under the patronage of the then BNP government.
He further claimed that the grenades found at the spot were being used by the army in the war. The then government provided those grenades to the terrorists.
