Awami League is changing strategy ahead of elections

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit several countries including India, South Africa and the United States in September and October. The Election Commission may announce the schedule for the 12th Parliament elections in the first week of November. Ten development projects will be inaugurated before the announcement of the programme, including the inauguration of Metro Rail, Karnaphuli tunnel in Chittagong, two-way railway line of Padma, new railway line till Cox’s Bazar.

Sources in the government and the Awami League party say that development projects will be inaugurated only in between foreign tours. After inaugurating each development project, the Prime Minister is expected to participate in political rallies. Apart from this, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will hold divisional rallies in Sylhet, Barisal and Khulna. Programs will also be organized in some important districts.

A responsible central leader of the Awami League told Prothom Alo on the condition of anonymity that the divisional grand meeting of the Awami League in Rangpur on August 2 was heavily attended, which was later discussed in the party’s executive committee and a special extended meeting Went. Central leaders, many ministers and local leaders had prepared for two weeks to make this rally a success. In such a situation, the party has directed that in the same way a large number of crowd should be ensured in every rally.

Awami League leaders are talking about three reasons behind taking a direct answer to the programs of BNP.

Firstly, the Awami League is busy with its programs during the mourning month of August. Apart from this, the Awami League did not want any tense situation to arise in August. No retaliatory steps were taken for this. However, various mourning events have been organized across the country, including in Dhaka.
