Bodies of eight Bangladeshis returned

The bodies of eight Bangladeshis who lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea while traveling from Libya to Italy have arrived in the country. Their bodies were brought from Libya to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday afternoon. After completing the legal process the bodies will be handed over to their families.

The deceased are Mamun Sheikh, Sajal Bairagi, Nayan Biswas, Kazi Shajib, Kaiser Khalifa, Rifat Sheikh, Russell Sheikh and Imrul Kayes. The first five of them were from Madaripur while the other three were from Gopalganj.

Relatives of the dead men told reporters from the airport that agents had forced 52 people onto a small boat that could carry only 30 people. The eight people who died were forced to lie below deck.

Due to lack of oxygen, he tried to leave from there but the agents beat him and sent him back. He died due to this torture and lack of oxygen.

Hearing the news of the arrival of the dead body, the family members of those eight started coming to the airport since morning. By afternoon, one member each from those eight families was called inside the airport. The remaining members kept waiting outside the airport.
