Recently, after visiting Harisabha, West Shriramdi, Puran Fire Station, Ranagol, Tila Bari areas, it was found that sand-filled bags have been thrown at many places. At many places, blocks or geo bags were washed away due to the strong current in the river.
Gopal Saha, director of the Chandpur Chamber of Commerce, said, “When there was erosion of the river in our area during the last monsoon, we reported the matter to the Water Development Board. They dumped the geo bags but the repair work of the block dam was not done properly.
Block dam work was also not done in Harisabha area. There is a danger of erosion in these sensitive areas of Puranbazar. In such a situation, we demand to take immediate measures to stop the erosion. I am drawing the attention of Water Development Board officials and our Education Minister Deepu Moni MP in this regard.
