“You know, when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina talked about Digital Bangladesh, people made fun of the concept. But, now it is a reality,” said Rahman.
He said that the government would provide all kinds of assistance to export-oriented industries and also for the development of these industries, adding that all kinds of assistance would also be provided for the expansion of the automobile industry in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Grihapati said that Bajaj three-wheeler manufacturing plant Runner is Bajaj’s first manufacturing plant outside India.
“We are very happy to be a part of the project with Runner and we are committed to working with Bangladesh for automobile development,” he added.
Hafizur Rahman Khan, Chairman, Runner Group, said, “Today is a very happy day, we have started the journey of the first three-wheeler manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. We are grateful to all those who helped us set up the plant. “
Noting that the government is currently losing a huge amount of revenue as most three-wheelers ply without registration, he said the locally made three-wheelers would help boost the government’s revenue collection.
