Election Commissioner Mohammad Alamgir said on Thursday that 36.1 percent voting took place in the first phase of Upazila Parishad elections.
He said this while talking to journalists at Nirbhachan Bhawan in Aggargaon area of the capital.
Commissioner Alamgir said that 36.1 percent votes were cast in the first phase of Upazila Parishad elections on Wednesday.
He said Sonatala, Mirsarai and Kushtia Sadar upazilas witnessed the lowest turnout of 17 per cent, while Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat witnessed the highest turnout of 73.1 per cent.
