The Sylhet office of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) measured water levels above the danger level at six locations in the Surma, Kushiyara, Sari and Sari-Goain rivers.
Umar Sani Akon, Assistant Commissioner of the DC office, issued a notice at around 11:30 pm on Monday night declaring flood situation in the district as well as Cherrapunji, Shillong and Assam due to heavy rains.
However, he said that the district administration is prepared to deal with the flood situation.
