Jobseekers ransacked Jhenidah General Hospital and Gaibandha civil surgeon’s office yesterday, alleging nepotism & irregularities in recruitment against vacant posts under the health department.

Seeing their names missing in the results of recruitment tests for the posts of office assistant, cardiographer, junior mechanic, MLSS, cook, gardener and ward boy, a group of jobseekers became angry.

About 15 to 20 youths entered the office and vandalised chairs, tables, and tea cups and ransacked other things. All the doctors of the hospital could somehow leave the scene during the attack.

Candidates who didn’t pass, alleged that the ruling party men took money from them with the assurance of giving those jobs but that didn’t happen.

A total of 2,780 candidates appeared in the recruitment test against 68 posts of different categories.

However, the respective authorities denied any corruption.
