A meeting of the district education improvement committee to find out the ways and means on how to improve and ensure quality education in the district was held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner office here Yesterday.
The meeting was presided over by DC Helaluddin Ahmed, among others, by members of the committee included heads of the institutions, educationists, education officers and UNOs as the special invitees.
After threadbare discussions it was decided that the work of the committee in the first phase would start to look into the problems of the primary level educational institutions.
It was discussed that dropout of the students, non- attendance of the teachers in the schools, infrastructural and other problems should be looked into immediately in order to improve the quality.
The committee would soon start work in Sadar upazila in this direction and the District Primary Education Officer was instructed to take necessary action in this regard. After the submission of the detailed report by the concerned officer the committee would go for action, it was decided. It is mentioned
that the committee would sit once in a month to review the situation and decide the actions as demand.
