A female expatriate from Kamila said she was sent to Saudi Arabia with a medical visa through Kamila Overseas. She moved to Saudi Arabia after spending 150,000 taka and had to work as a domestic help. Didn’t get money to work for three months.

The employee said, “The Saudi employer didn’t even give me sleep, let alone food. The employer forced me to work for 18 hours instead of eight as per the contract. I was tortured there as well.”

“When I returned with great difficulty, I lodged a complaint with BMET against Kamilla Overseas. I was given Tk 30,000 as compensation. The rest is yet to be given,” she said.

Umar Farooq, a resident of Keraniganj, went to Lebanon after spending Tk 500,000. After working there for 11 years, he returned home during the coronavirus outbreak.
