A BBC documentary has sparked a new controversy in the country earlier this month with the government condemning it and describing it as a “propaganda piece” designed to push a discrediting narrative. The government also removed the BBC documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ from various social media platforms, including Twitter and YouTube.

The controversy deepened after JNUSU members allegedly “deliberately” faced a power outage while they were screening a controversial BBC documentary at the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus in the national capital.

Despite the government labeling it a ‘propaganda piece’, the documentary attacks the government over freedom of expression.

Earlier, on Wednesday, 13 students were detained outside Jamia Millia Islamia University after some students tried to create ruckus over the screening of a BBC documentary.
