Telenor will bring Mozilla smartphone in Bangladesh

smartphoneNorway based telecom company is running Grameen Phone in Bangladesh and majority of its share is owned by Telenor. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, BTRC has awarded 3G license and allocated required frequency to mobile operators of the country recently. Some parts of the country are already under 3G coverage. But mobile phones required to enjoy 3G service is expensive for most of the consumers in Bangladesh.

Recently Mozilla Foundation has announced that they will bring twenty five dollar smartphone which will use Firefox Operating System. Chinese chip manufacturer Speedtrum will work will Mozilla in this project. These phones will have 3.5 inch screen, its resolution will be 320*480 pixels, it will support html 5. Moreover it will have two megapixel camera, FM radio, WiFi, Blutooth and Firefox will be its default browser.

Telenor officials are saying that they will be able to bring this low cost smartphone for Bangladeshi consumers in current year and thus 3G service will be affordable soon.
