Three Bangladeshi cricketers were fasting in the wining match against South Africa

Many Bangladesh cricket fans were surprised when captain revealed that three Bangladeshi cricketer were fasting during the match. Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehedi Hassan Miraz, and Mahmudullah Riyad were fasting during the match against mighty South Africa. Apparently fasting didn’t had any effect on their performance. Mushfiqur Rahim was the highest scorer for Bangladesh with 78 runs from 80 balls, Mahmudullah Riyad scored quick 46 from 33 balls and Mehedi Hassan Miraz took the important wicket of South African captain. In this high scoring match Mehedi Hassan Miraz conceded only 44 runs in his 10 overs.
Fasting from dawn to dusk is mandatory for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan. But Islamic scholars agree that Muslim players may avoid fasting in game days. Because fasting can affect their performance. In spite of this opinion from Islamic scholars, some professional players around the world continue fasting on match days also. Two Muslim player of South African cricket team: Hashim Amla and Imran Tahir don’t fast on match days. On the other hand two Afghan cricketer Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan continued fasting during Indian Premier League.
