Zambian police on Sunday recovered the bodies of 27 people believed to be Ethiopian migrants who had been dumped in an agricultural field on the outskirts of the capital after dying of hunger and exhaustion, officials said. .

Police said the lone survivor was found alive on Sunday morning and taken to a Lusaka hospital for treatment, while the dead were taken to the morgue for identification and post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Preliminary police investigation has revealed that the victims were all men aged between 20 and 38 and were dumped on the side of the road by unknown people.
