National Pension Authority acting chairman Kabirul Ezdani made the comments while addressing a discussion on the universal pension scheme at the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.
MCCI President Saiful Islam presented the welcome address in the programme. Top level officials of various private sector companies were present in the discussion.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the universal pension scheme on 17 August. A total of four schemes have been launched namely Probash, Pragati, Surokkha and Samta. Any Bangladeshi above the age of 18 years can enroll in the scheme to receive pension facilities during retirement life after paying the installments till the age of 60 years.
Apart from this, people above 50 years of age can also be included in any scheme under special consideration. The National Pension Authority under the Finance Division is entrusted with the responsibility of running and implementing the pension system.
