Awami League leader opens fire during altercation with BCL workers in Shahbag. Breaking News

A local Awami League leader opened fire during a dispute with several Chhatra League leaders in Shahbag in the capital on Sunday night.

After hearing the statements of both the parties, the police confiscated weapons from the Awami League leader.

No case has been registered in connection with the incident till Thursday evening.

Police and witnesses said the firing incident took place in front of a restaurant called Rosnabilash adjacent to the outdoor facility of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) around 10:30 pm on Sunday.

Syed Mosharraf Hussain, who is the former organizing secretary of Shahbag police station Awami League, is accused in this incident. He is currently active in the politics of Dhaka City South unit Awami League.

During the firing, many leaders and workers including Zakir Hussain Kotowal, former joint coordinator of Shahbagh Police Station Chhatra League, were present.
