According to the survey, the contraceptive prevalence rate (CPR) in urban slum areas in 2021 was 72 per cent and in other areas of cities it was 68 per cent.

Zahid said that today even the poor are becoming aware. “People who can feed do not put pressure on the government to increase the population. But the problem arises when the poor population increases because they depend on government subsidies.

The health minister said the rich and the poor have progressed almost equally in taking birth control, which is a good sign.

“We have also made progress in providing clean drinking water. Around 97 per cent and 98 per cent others living in slums have access to clean water,” he said.
