BIDS survey shows food inflation in Bangladesh to hit 15% in December 2024

Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) Director General Binayak Sen has said that food inflation in the country was 15 percent in December 2023.

Citing a BIDS survey, Binayak Sen revealed this at an event organized to unveil a book at the BIDS office in Agargaon area of ​​the city on Thursday.

He also said that low income people are in trouble due to high inflation.

However, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), which primarily discloses inflation information, inflation stood at about 12 percent in December 2023.

Binayak Sen said, “BIDS collected information from all the districts in December. Later, through a process, inflation was estimated. It was found that food inflation is 15 per cent.”
