Chittagong’s rail link restored

Rail link to Chittagong was restored three hours after suspension of train service on the route following breakdown of a mail train in Comilla on

Comilla Railway Station Assistant Engineer Hamidul Haque told bdnews24.com that a Chittagong-bound mail train malfunctioned near Burichang Upazila’s Sadar Rasulpur station around 5:30am.

The train stopped mid-way and blocked the line for three hours disrupting Chittagong’s railway communication with Dhaka and Sylhet.

A rescue train from Akhaura rushed to the spot and repaired the malfunctioned mail train to restore the link, three hours after the breakdown.

An inter-city ‘Turna Nishita’ and another mail train (up-route) were delayed in Comilla Railway Station. A Sylhet-bound ‘Samtat’ was held-up at Laksham Railway Station.
