A new DTH service called Akash by Beximco Communications Limited is launched. It’s launching ceremony was held on Sunday. DTH is the abbreviation of Direct To Home. DTH technology uses satellite to send television signals directly to users. Users mount a small sized dish antenna on window or rooftop to receive signals. With this technology viewers get much clear picture and can enjoy more TV channels than traditional cable connection. Akash DTH is offering more than hundred channels and they are planning to increase the number.
Experts say this technology will help to remove odd looking TV cables from roadside poles and increase government revenue. Actually in 2016 Beximco launched another DTH service under the brand name Real Vue. But that was a commercial failure.
This time Beximco is using countries lone satellite for this service. Officials are hoping to succeed this time, they are promising to expand this service to all 64 districts of the country and include more services like video on demand. Set-top box, remote control and dish antenna package for Aksh DTH will cost 6,499 taka and monthly charge will be 399 taka. But installation and fist month subscription is free.
