In 'Poor Things', Emma Stone accepts a unique challenge: playing a Victorian-era woman who dies by suicide, her unborn child's brain brought back to life by a mad scientist and her adventurous self. -The journey of discovery is adopted.

Her adventurous, no-holds-barred take on the Frankenstein myth paid off, and Stone now has her second Academy Award for Best Actress, putting her on par with greats like Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster and Elizabeth Taylor.

The 35-year-old Arizona native won the Oscar on Sunday, beating out Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Annette Bening (Nyad), Sandra Hueller (Anatomy of a Fall) and Carey Mulligan (Maestro).

Stone accepted his award, saying, “It's not about me. It's about a team that came together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.”

“And that's the best part of making movies, we're all in this together.” Stone's first Oscar came in 2017 as struggling actress Mia in the dreamy musical romance “La La Land,” an ode to the Golden Age of Hollywood.

But she created a much bolder character as Bella Baxter in 'Poor Things' directed by Greece's Yorgos Lanthimos.
