Foreign nationals working in Bangladesh are taking away more than 26,000 crore taka annually – TIB survey
Foreign nationals working in Bangladesh are taking away more than 26,000 crore taka annually – it’s the conclusion of a recent survey by Bangladesh branch of civil society organization Transparency International. In a press conference at the capital today, Transparency International Bangladesh executive director Iftekharuzzaman informed this to the media.
This TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh) survey was conducted between 2018 and 2019. According to TIB, at least two and half lac legal and illegal foreign nationals are working in Bangladesh. Many of them are working without work permit, sending salaries to their respective countries without paying taxes to Bangladesh government. Government is losing around 12,000 crore taka tax money.
Many foreign nationals came here with tourist visa and working in Bangladesh without work permit. In many cases they are getting more than ten thousand dollar as salary. But on paper they are showing it three to four thousand taka. They are using foreign banks to send their money to their respective countries.
