Sources said that after committing the murder, SK Sajib was roaming normally in the city. Police detained Sajib and three others from the town. Others arrested include Zahir Rehan alias Babu from Kantinagar village of Sadar upazila, Faisal Ahmed from Kumarpara area of the same upazila and Ifti Khan from Awas area.
Many BCL leaders said that Sajib suddenly got the post of student wing of the ruling party, even though he had not even studied in college. He was made Assistant Secretary in the committee chaired by Yasser Arafat and Saad Ahmed in 2017–18.
Since then, he formed teenage gangs in the city’s housing sector and started various crimes, including extortion, violence and drug dealing. Yet Sajib was promoted to the latest committee and made vice-chairman. Then he became more careless. Sajib was seen openly waving weapons and showing off. He was later expelled from the organization due to various crimes including attack on district BCL general secretary Sheikh Hafiz Challen.
BCL leaders said that Sajib then joined the Swiss National League in support of Tushar. He took part in the election campaign in the last national election.
