As a small country Bangladesh has its own strategy to ensure sovereignty. Bangladesh armed forces face many challenges. In spite of limitation of resources Bangladesh government has always tried to ensure modernization of armed forces. Bangladesh army was tested when neighboring country backed insurgents started insurgency in Chittagong Hill Tracts. Army managed to maintain territorial integrity.
Bangladesh army has started to introduce Chinese made MTB 2000 tanks. These tanks have 125mm cannon with computerized controller. It also has 7.62mm and 12.7 machine guns. These tanks can travel up to four hundred kilometers and its speed can be up to sixty one kilometers per hour on normal road. Bangladesh will collect forty four tanks in first phase. Weapon locating radar is also introduced in Bangladesh army. These radars can locate enemy cannon and rockets.
Bangladesh is also one of the biggest suppliers of peacekeepers in UN mission. Besides sending peacekeepers, Bangladesh also provides logistic support to UN peacekeeping mission.
