The state submitted the accused's appeal to the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division in May. Continuing this, the case was kept in the Chamber Court on 12 November. That day, the Chamber Court referred the case to the regular bench of the Appellate Division. The accused's appeal was later included in the cause list of the Appellate Division on January 23.

Speaking to Prothom Alo about the case, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin said the verdict was delivered by a three-judge bench of the High Court.

A bench consisting of four judges of the Appellate Division will be required to hear the appeal, he said, adding that the bench will be constituted soon and then the hearing will begin.

The number of judges including the Chief Justice is 6.

MD Aminul Islam is one of the lead lawyers for the accused in this case.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, he said that if the hearing on the appeal in the Pilkhana case starts, it will take a lot of time. As a result, other activities of the Appellate Division may be disrupted. If new judges are recruited to the Appellate Division, the hearing of appeals in this case may be expedited.

However, Aminul Islam said the matter depends on the Chief Justice.
