JU Cell documents revealed that victims filed 14 complaints between January, 2022 and March, 2024. Of them, 12 have been disposed of while two are under investigation. In the resolved incidents, various types of punishments were given to the accused.

A JU student was expelled for six months and fined Tk 50,000 for harassing a female student of the economics department at the university.

Apart from this, a teacher of the Public Health and Informatics Department was dismissed after he was found to be involved in sexual harassment. However, in this case the allegation was made outside the cell.

Professor Jebunnesa, chairman of Jahangirnagar University's Sexual Assault and Harassment Prevention Cell, told Prothom Alo that they take various initiatives, including opening e-mails and complaint boxes and canvassing departments.

He further said that it is difficult for the seven-member committee to inform everyone about this individually. Therefore, all teachers should give information about SAIL to the students in the classes.

Apart from Fairuz's incident, two more complaints have been lodged with the cell at Jagannath University. The investigation of one case has been completed while the investigation of the other is ongoing.

Apart from the top five universities, such incidents of sexual harassment took place in other universities also.
