Sachin Das, Priyom Biswas and Souvik Paul, accused in the Oscar murder case, are members of the Chhatra League in the city. He is a follower of Saikat Das. Saikat is a follower of local ward councilor Shaibal Das Shumon.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, CMP Police Commissioner Krishnapada Roy said, “It is not possible for the police alone to stop this. Aware citizens including parents and teachers will have to come forward. Attendance of 70 percent students will have to be ensured so that students cannot leave the class and get involved in criminal activities. However, no culprit will be spared.”
