The rise of the global South: impact on the global order

Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) organized a roundtable on 'Rise of the Global South: Implications for the Global Order' at The Westin Dhaka on Thursday, May 23, according to a press release.

Distinguished Fellow of BIPSS and former Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Academic Visitor of the University of Reading, United Kingdom as well as Registrar of the American International University Bangladesh, Group Captain (Retd) Md. Jahidul Islam Khan, and Professor of the Department of International Relations at the University of Dhaka, Niloy Ranjan Biswas, were part of the panel discussion.

The moderator of the event, Major General ANM Muniruzzaman (Retd), Chairman, BIPSS, opening the discussion said that in the complex fabric of global geopolitics and geo-economics, the rise of the Global South represents a significant paradigm shift.

“Historically, marginalized groups of nations have often been ignored. The nations of the Global South are now establishing themselves on the world stage, reshaping international relations and challenging existing structures”, he said while delivering the inaugural address.
