Tree plantation to yield green tea

grteaA tea-garden will be made inside Jahangir Nagar University to yield green tea. Vice-chancellor of the university inaugurated the tree plantation ceremony by planting a tea-tree. 250 trees of advanced progeny named BT-2 have been planted in the slope in front of Meer Mosharaf Hossain hall. These trees were planted by consulting with the experts of Bangladesh tea-board and Bangladesh tea research institute.

Experts tested soil-sample of the area and found it suitable for tea gardening. Rain falling in the area is relatively low but required water supply is available. Green tea may be harvested within two years. This garden will help researchers and in the beautification of the area.
