Afghanistan were to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20 Internationals in this tour. Although the number of ODIs remains the same, one Test and one T20I match were canceled at the request of the Afghan Cricket Board.
Afghanistan last toured Bangladesh last year to play three ODIs, which were part of the ICC ODI Super League. Bangladesh won that series 2-1. A two-match T20 International series was also played between the two teams, which ended in a draw.
