Recently, there has been a dispute between BCL and the students union regarding the cut-out of the metro rail carrying the photo of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The cut-out thanking Sheikh Hasina was installed by BCL at the inauguration of the metro rail station at TSC last month.
The student union requested BCL to remove the cut-out as it covered the iconic Raju memorial sculpture.
Meanwhile, Republican Chhatra Jota, an alliance of left-leaning student organisations, took out a torchlight procession on the campus. Then some leaders of leftist student organizations tore the cutout.
BCL workers attacked workers of leftist organisations, in which 8-10 people were injured. Later, BCL covered Raju’s statue with a black cloth in protest.
