The deceased were identified as Yasin Ali, 23, of Magura area of Tentulia upazila and Abdul Jalil, 24, of Brohmotol area of the upazila.
BGB and local public representatives said that BSF personnel deployed at Fakirpara camp opened fire when they saw that some youths were trying to cross the border illegally. In the morning BSF soldiers took away the dead body. Other people present with the victims ran away and informed the family members about the incident.
Tirnoihat union council member MD Manikuzzaman told Prothom Alo, “Those who were with the victims informed the family members about the incident. We have heard that BSF has removed the bodies.”
