BRAC Bank later filed three separate petitions seeking a stay on the HC’s decision. The petitions were placed before a chamber court on 28 November, which forwarded them to a regular bench of the Appellate Division.

Advocate AM Amin Uddin along with Minhajul Haq Chowdhury argued on behalf of BRAC Bank during the hearing on Thursday, while advocate Abdullah Al Baqi represented Muhammad Ali.

Talking to Prothom Alo, Minhajul Haq Chowdhury said that the Appellate Division has stayed the decision of the High Court for two months. There is no longer any legal bar in accepting dishonored check cases.

He said that all cases would continue as before, an appeal would be filed soon against the High Court’s decision.
