High Court upheld the 14-year jail sentence of former DIG Mizan in illegal property case.

On June 21 last year, a Dhaka court had sentenced Mizanur Rahman to 14 years of imprisonment in this case. Apart from this, Mizan's wife, brother and nephew were sentenced to seven years imprisonment each.

Later the former DIG filed an appeal in the High Court against the decision.

On June 24, 2019, ACC director Monzoor Morshed registered a case against DIG Mizan, his wife Soheliya Anar Ratna, nephew sub-inspector Mahmudul Hasan and younger brother Mahbubur Rahman.

According to the case statement, the ACC found that Mizan hid information about assets worth Taka 32.8 million in his asset statements.
