India has increased the price of onion from 600 USD to 900 USD per metric ton. This high price of onion compelled importers to stop importing onions from India. Meanwhile, a report published by international food policy research institute on Thursday reveals that due to increased price in India, local businessman took the opportunity and increased the price. By analyzing import and stock it can be said that there is no scarcity.
The stock should last until December. By December new onions will be available in the market. Government missed the opportunity to import onions timely and thus could not curb the market price
