Imran and Qureshi were convicted on charges on 6 February. According to The Express Tribune, both were brought to the court and the former prime minister informed the judge that he was unjustly arrested from the grounds of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on May 9.
Imran was booked in several cases related to the riots that broke out across the country on May 9 after he was detained in a corruption case. The complaints lodged in Rawalpindi included an attack on the gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ), a riot in the office of a sensitive institution and other incidents.
He rejected the claims contained in the First Information Report (FIR) of the cases.
It should be mentioned that, according to The Express Tribune, after his release from Adiala jail, PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi was arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with the GHQ attack.
