Intercity train stopped for a pregnant woman and ambulance sent by 999

It was around 1:45 am on Kurigram bound intercity train ‘Kurigram Express’, a 32-year-old pregnant woman Kamrunnahar was severely suffering from labour pain. Kamrunnahar and her husband Nasir Molla were perplexed and wondering what to do. She was also bleeding.

At that time the train was about to cross Natore railway station. They informed the matter to train attendant and guard decided to stop the train at Natore station though the train is not supposed to stop there.

In the meantime, they also phoned to 999 helpline operated by Bangladesh Police. They sent an ambulance to Natore station. After reaching Natore station they found the stand by ambulance and the woman was rushed to Natore Sadar hospital.

She gave birth of a boy safely, both mother and the newborn are doing well. Director of Natore Sadar hospital said they received a call from 999, so took necessary steps to receive the patient. Nasir Molla husband of the woman Kamrunnahar said he is happy with the service from 999 helpline.
