Big-hitting all-rounder Mitchell said the first priority is to remove the immediate threat from Afridi before the pair set themselves a target.

“The way Shaheen moved it up front made it challenging, so we had to get it as deep as possible,” Mitchell said.

“It’s about wasting your time and building partnerships till the score is 10-12 overs and then trying to put pressure on them.

“We have different strengths and we like to hit the ball to different areas, it’s nice to bat with them.”
