“Because the smog is so severe, I won’t go out for a run like usual and will just stay at home,” he told AFP in a business district in downtown Beijing.
Xu Gengying, another resident of the capital, said pollution would not stop her from living her daily life.
“We still go out when needed, if there’s something to do. Just avoid doing some exercise outside — not jogging,” he said.
Authorities have issued their highest red alert in several areas of the densely populated Hebei province around the capital.
