Schoolboy dies in wall collapse

An eight-year-old student was killed and two were injured on Tuesday when the wall of an under-construction school building collapsed on them in the city’s Banasree residential area. The deceased was identified as Zubaer Rahman Fahim, a Class-I student of Foyzur Rahman Ideal School in Meradia. He was the son of Moniruzzaman, a sub-inspector of Special Branch (SB) of police, of South Banasree. The incident took place around 9:30am when the wall of an under-construction building of the school fell on the trio as they went to a tubewell to drink water, teachers of the school told The Daily Star. They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Fahim dead. The injured students – Ashraful Haque Shrabon, 7, and Ullash, 8, of the same class, – are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
