Student commits suicide after being rebuked by parents

Tanzila Aktar of 14 appeared in the JSC (Junior School Certificate) 2011 exam from Kashipur Girls High School and College of Barisal. She was daughter of Joynul Abedin who is an employee of Abdur Rob Serniabad teachers’ training college. Tanzila Aktar hanged herself from the roof of the tin-shed house where she lived. It is reported that she committed suicide after being rebuked by her parents for failing in the exam.

The body of the deceased was sent to the hospital for autopsy and a case of unnatural death was filed by local police.

Mother of Tanzila Aktar is a domestic worker, she found her daughter’s body hanged when returned from work.

Many educationalists have been insisting that today’s exam system should be changed as it creates huge psychological pressure on examinees and parents should be friendlier to their child.
