The government has put on hold the proposal to create two new divisions namely Padma and Meghna for the current financial year.
The decision came after a meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms (NICAR) chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday.
Talking on this issue, Law Minister Anisul Haq said that the government has adopted the policy of financial austerity. Had two more divisions been formed, a lot of expenditure would have had to be incurred. Therefore, it has been decided to put the proposal on hold for the time being.
