Bangladesh government planning for 3 more public University

Sheikh Hasina, Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Wednesday informed the Jatiya Sangsad that her government has a plan to set up three more public universities in the country.
‘The programme to set up public university in the country is on and under this programme more universities would be set up at different places in Bangladesh,’ she said while replying to a tabled question from treasury bench member Muhammad Imaj Uddin Pramanik (Naogaon-4).
Under the programme, these public universities would be set up in Barisal divisional city, Goapalganj and Rangamati districts.
The prime minister also said, ‘Bangladesh Textile University Act, 2010’ was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad last month to upgrade the College of Textile Technology, Tejgaon to a university.
She said work on setting up a digital university at Gazipur aiming at building Bangladesh a modern and digital one in line of the government’s Vision-2021 was going on.
Besides, she said the matter relating to setting up of Rabindra University at Shilaidah in Kushtia and an academic Bhaban of the university under Shajadpur in Sirajganj was remained under government’s active consideration.
