A total of 33,705 male students and 16,711 female students have applied for the entrance exam for the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and IITs under the 'A' unit against 223 male and 223 female seats, sources in the Central Admission Committee of JU said.
After visiting the examination centres, Vice Chancellor Nurul Alam told reporters that the students were taking the examinations in a cordial atmosphere.
He said that the attendance rate is 70-80 percent.
