Saying that BNM was formed at the behest of some retired military officers, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, it was the retired military officers who brought Shakib Al Hasan to them. Shakib has expressed his desire to enter politics.

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, “I told Shakib that it is up to him whether he will enter politics or not. I said, you are still playing, so think before coming into politics. No encouragement from my side. When we found him, he was gone.”

Responding to journalists' questions about BNM's registration, Hafiz Uddin said it was unrealistic that a party would be granted registration based on its words. He did not make any such recommendation. He said, “You know very well who does all this.”

Responding to another question, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, BNP does not have councils. He had also given advice in this regard many times. But he never made any derogatory comment about Begum Zia.

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that it would have been better if the elections were held under the mediation of the United Nations. It would have been good if BNP had taken part in such elections. He said, if BNP participates in the elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the results will also be the same.

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, a two-time minister and six-time Member of Parliament, talks about his role in the liberation war, politics, his position as a minister, his jail sentence and more. He told in the press briefing that during the liberation war, he had led the rebellion in Jashore Cantonment. He struggled for eight hours and escaped from there. He organized the liberation war in that area.

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, this 80 year old brave freedom fighter was sent to jail in March. That was a false case. This made him sad. He said. “I was accused of setting fire to a Janata Bank vehicle. The police had registered a case. The police was also a witness.”

The BNP leader had also talked about stopping many robbers when he was the chairman of Janata Bank 32 years ago.
