Nishat Majumder has conquered Mount Everest yesterday and in the process she becomes the first woman to conquer Mount Everest. She and her brother Mohit jointly conquered the Everest. 31 years old Nishat Majumder is an accountant and works for Dhaka WASA, earlier she conquered other three Himalayan peaks higher than 6,000 meters.

Other Bangladeshi woman Wasfia Nazreen was also trying to conquer the Everest separately. In fact she started earlier than Nishat Majumdar; but she was unlucky. Bad weather slowed down her climbing.

A non government organization co sponsored Nishat’s adventure under a campaign titled ‘Because I am a girl’.

Surely it will encourage women of Bangladesh, where gender discrimination is still a major problem.

Musa Ibrahim was the first Bangladeshi to conquer Everest, he conquered it on 2010. Now Nishat becomes the first Bangladeshi woman to conquer Everest. Mohit is also part of history, because he is the first Bangladeshi who conquered Everest from two different directions.
