Three people, including a Bangladeshi, were killed in a shootout with police in Malaysia on Tuesday, Malaysian news portal The Sun reported.

According to reports, the three foreigners are suspected to be members of the 'Centro Gang', which is believed to be responsible for several cases of vandalism at jewelery shops, involving losses of more than RM4 million.

The shooting occurred at about 11.30 am on KM 17 Jalan Pekan-Kuantan Bypass and ended with two Vietnamese men and a Bangladeshi, aged 36, 44 and 38 respectively, found dead in a Proton Waza car.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahya Othman said a police team from the Criminal Investigation Department of Selangor and Pahang Police had earlier spotted a car driving suspiciously in the Pahang State Development Board area in Pekan.

He said police ordered the car to stop, but the driver drove the car towards Jalan Pekan-Kuantan Bypass.
